• Bedding: Dust-free, non-dyed sand or clay substrate for burrowing. (NO
  Calcium or Vitamin sand, ground nuts, wood shavings, Linoleum, shelf liners, or reptile carpet.).

• Decor: Solid ceramic food and water bowls. Rocks or logs for basking, Hides, caves, burrows, flagstone and rough stones for shedding.

​

• Note: barred top for ventilation. Should be housed outdoors or in a large open area (like a shed or garage).

​

• Lighting: Russian Tortoises need a UVI of 3.0-4.0 in their basking area,
  measured by Solar meter 6.5. Light source distance from basking area
  (highest point in cage) must be measured by the Solar meter.

• Temp & Humidity:

  • Basking area temperature: 95°F / 35°C

  • Cool zone temperature: 75-85°F / 24-29°C

  • Nighttime temperature: 70-75°F / 21- 23°C

  • Humidity: 40-75%. Use measuring gauge.

• Cleaning: Spot clean waste and old food daily. Must be fully cleaned every 6
  months. Change substrate, rinse with warm water and dish soap, disinfect
  with vinegar or Hydrogen Peroxide, clean soiled areas or items, re-bed.
